My firm Linket sells linkets, which compete with domains. A domain looks like ebay.com while a linket can be [Hot Dog]. A domainer is a person who buys domains and then wants to resell them at a profit. There’s nothing good or bad about this. It’s a way for some to make a living. But what has happened since the 1990s is that domainers bought out many of the single word domains in the dot com Top Level Domain (TLD). They wish to resell these for as much as they can get. A recent case is hairbrush.com, whose owner is asking $US88,000. Whether or not he will get this is another matter.
